TUTORING AT
ROSENBERG HOUSE

Rosenberg house is home to six adults with autism. It is a home probably a lot like your own. Like most adults they work during the day and look forward to enjoying their time off. One of the activities they enjoy the most is learning new things. This is where you come in. We at Rosenberg house are looking for dynamic high school students who are interested in tutoring adults with autism and developmental disabilities (some non-verbal). We would like you to help teach them vocabulary, sign language, and other skills that will help them lead fuller and more fulfilling lives. Along with academic lessons we would also like you to participate in various recreational activities with the residents like frisbee, basketball, art, baking, and many more. We know from experience that your contributions can make a huge difference for any one of these folks in just 1-2 hours a week.

This project of using high school students as tutors for adults with autism is like no other in the country. It offers both you and us an opportunity to do something positive and rewarding with out taking up a lot of time. Forming relationships is often difficult for people with autism, but given this special collaboration we have begun to overcome this stereotype. We would like you to help us continue along this path. Furthermore, tutoring at Rosenberg house can qualify for your required community service and also looks great to college admission boards.

So, if you think you have the skills, enthusiasm, and interest in trying something new, challenging and fun, please give us a call. We'd like you to come visit our house so you see what we're all about. If you like what you see, we'd like you to join our team.
